NOD32 Antivirus - part III
by Andrew Cooper
Antivirus Itself
Despite everything else, the main goal of an antivirus is to scan and clean viruses. NOD32 can be easily launched directly from the Control Center.
After the launch you're presented with a window where you can configure scanning options like drives, folders and files you want scanned. The settings are almost trivial; you can specify to include or to exclude files of various types, entire folders or drives, etc. What I really liked is profiles. You can create several configurations that include various files and drives and then quickly switch between them without having to reconfigure the settings every time you need to run a scan.
The scanning process itself does not take much system resources so if you're not streaming video or sound or rendering large 3D models, you may run it in the background without experiencing severe system slowdowns.
Verdict
NOD32 from eSet software is an excellent choice for anybody looking for antivirus protection. Its flexible interface, superior virus detection and removal capabilities and its low system resource usage make this software well worth using.
Highly recommended.
