After checking the Options I couldn't find any more excuses to delay the big scan. I held my breath and pressed the Search tab.
This gave me three methods of scanning:
Port scan
Registry scan
File scan
Port scan took about 3 minutes to scan all 64355 ports. Anti-Trojan reports all open ports and if any of these are known to be used by Trojans the program alerts you of it.
The Registry scan is very quick, and checks specific paths in the Registry known to be used by malicious pests. This took only 10 seconds on my 1.6 GHz Pentium 4.
Finally came the showdown. I was ready to run the File scan, which checks all my files and folders. The scanning was quick and simple. You can choose a drive to scan, or you can select any folder. I chose to scan the entire system. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that my computer had not been compromised.
There is no option to scan a single file, but Anti-Trojan is so fast at scanning a folder that this option will not likely to be missed by most users.
Verdict
This anti-Trojan software is good. The program is extremely easy to use, very well thought out and amazingly fast. About the only negative thing I can say about it is it would be nice to have the option of scanning any file from Windows Explorer added to the right-click menu. All in all, I recommend it although advanced users might like it more than rookies.
