Anti-Trojan version 5.5 - part II
by Andrew Cooper
Before telling the software to start the scan, however, I decided to check the Options tab to see if there was anything I needed to configure.

This app has some useful options not offered by some of the other anti-Trojan tools such as "Make backups of removed files" and "Delete Trojans in archive files".
There is a listing of plug-ins to the right of the options, but these plug-ins are not like those used in Adobe Photoshop or Outpost Firewall. You cannot install new plug-ins or remove them from the program.
Two plug-ins are currently used: Process Viewer and Close a port. Both are very useful for advanced users.
Process Viewer displays all processes and applications currently running.

With it you can kill any process by highlighting it and pressing the Terminate button. It also has an option to record the list of processes to a text file for future use. Very handy.
This plug-in is also used by the AT-Watch monitor, which can be seen in your Systray and looks like this:
AT-Watch scans all active processes for Trojans, however you cannot terminate any process from there. You'll have to launch the Process Viewer or do it through the Windows Task Manager.
The second plug-in, Close a port, is also very useful, especially to users who haven't installed a personal firewall. This utility supplies information about the active ports on your machine, such as port number, remote address and local address. It also gives you the option to close active ports.
If you don't already use a firewall, I definitely recommend you install one (Outpost is excellent and ZoneAlarm is very good). The Close a port plug-in is good, but it cannot do the entire job for a firewall.
